Welcome to Lutheran Care. We are an energetic, forward thinking and values driven faith based not for profit organisation, providing support to people who need it most throughout South Australia and the Northern Territory. Current programs within the NT include financial literacy program, emergency relief and financial counselling, including town camps and servicing remote communities within the Central Australian area.

We currently have an exciting job opportunity for a full-time Financial Capability Worker within our Central Australian Money Hub Services, based in Alice Springs.

The Financial Capability Worker supports people to make informed choices about their financial position, build longer-term capabilities through budgeting and support clients manage their money.

Whilst the position is based in our Alice Springs office, outreach services are a key aspect of our Money Hub service and therefore extensive travel, including some overnight stays in a range of accommodation is necessary.  Driving a 4WD vehicle over large distances is required and therefore driver training will be provided. Relocation assistance, generous salary packaging, additional leave entitlements and access to professional development opportunities are available.

You will require:

  • Completion of Financial Literacy Education Skill set or willingness to obtain.
  • Possess an understanding of financial issues as they relate to household budgets.
  • An understanding of Central Australian Indigenous culture and the ability to work with people from Indigenous communities.
  • Have a high level of communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a cooperative member of a team to achieve team objectives.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Skilled at prioritising and multitasking.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary Packaging:

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) allows Public Benevolent Institutions (PBI), such as Lutheran Care, to offer special tax concessions. Through salary packaging, these concessions allow an employee to increase their take-home pay.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo a NDIS Workers Screening Check, an OCHRE Card, a National Police check as well as a current Safe Environments for Children & Young People certificate. You must hold a current and unrestricted South Australian Drivers License and possess a registered roadworthy vehicle available for work use (employees reimbursed for work travel). In addition, the successful applicant will be required to provide evidence of COVID-19 vaccination or a medical exemption.
