Foster Care Case Worker

Current programs include emergency relief, financial counselling, family support and education, foster care, housing and family shelter, homelessness services, and refugee services.

Our Foster Care Service (FCS) is designed to provide family-based foster care services in the SA Metropolitan North, South, West, and East, the Adelaide Hills, the Barossa and the Murray/Mallee regions. Our Specialist Care Program offers trauma and attachment informed specialist family-based care to children and young people with complex needs, who require a higher level of care than generalist foster care.

 

This is where you come in!

We are looking for a Foster Care Case Worker to join our growing Specialist Care Team and provide intensive casework support to Specialist Care Households. The Foster Care Case Worker Specialist is responsible for providing, assessment, training, support and advocacy for foster carers to achieve highly successful placements and maximise the well-being of children in care. You will be required to undertake travel for regular home visits with foster carers, travel to other locations for intra and interagency meetings and have the ability to work outside normal office hours.

The role is based at Sefton Park with the option to hot desk at other sites by negotiation.

The duties of this role include:

  • Managing a caseload of carer households.
  • Providing casework through assessment, training, support, placement and advocacy.
  • Assisting with planning and facilitating of special events and support groups for carers and families.
  • Participating in the after-hours on-call rostered support of foster carers.
  • Assisting the placement co-ordinators with the process of matching and placement of children with approved foster carers as required.
