Join Lutheran Care’s 12 Days of Giving campaign and support families this Christmas

Lutheran Care is running its 12 Days of Giving campaign again this December, which will help us fill our Emergency Relief pantries for Christmas so we can support families and individuals in desperate need this holiday season.

Originally set up as an initiative for school children to learn about the joy of giving and helping others at Christmas time, this year we are encouraging all members of the community to participate and join the schools in their fundraising efforts.

Rather like a ‘reverse’ Advent calendar, 12 Days of Giving is a challenge where people can actively support the most vulnerable in their communities by donating grocery and other essential items to Lutheran Care.

Right now, our Emergency Relief pantries are running desperately low on some items that are especially helpful for families in need at Christmas time. This includes canned food, other pantry staples and hygiene products.

From December 1 to 12, we will reveal a different item from this list every day on our social media and website. To get involved, all families have to do is find the items in their pantry or add it to their shopping list, then compile the donations under their Christmas tree and watch the pile grow!

Then, from December 13, you can deliver your gifts to the Lutheran Care office at either Blair Athol (307 Prospect Road) or Tanunda (Shop 7/8, 109-111 Murray Street). All items donated will go directly to families and individuals experiencing crisis this Christmas.

Families are welcome to leave a greeting card, a note or some artwork to be shared with an Emergency Relief client to bring them some joy this Christmas. We also encourage participants to share an update and photo of their progress by using the hashtag #LC12daysofGiving.

While we are listing 12 different items to be collected over the 12 Days of Giving, we understand that some families may not be able to stretch their budget this far and we are grateful for any donations you can give. We also understand that these dates run at a busy time of the year, so we are happy for people to collect donations in a way and timeframe that suits them.
