This National Reconciliation Week, Lutheran Care is pleased to share a refreshed membership of our Reconciliation Action Plan Committee, following strong interest from staff across the organisation earlier this year.
The new working group is building on the important foundational work already done by those previously on the committee, including releasing our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan and progressing work towards an Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan.
Co-chairing Lutheran Care’s Reconciliation Action Plan Committee is Chief Executive Officer Ian Byrne and Head of Aboriginal Strategy and Practice Charmayne Fleming.
They are joined by staff from a range of Lutheran Care programs and services including Michelle Keane, Farron Studt, Kylie Adams, Brooke DuBois, Beck Taylor, Donna Marston, Lou Young, Melvina Ward, Nat Costello, Ngaree Ah Kit, Paul Swansson, Phoebe Wallish, and Kym Grainger.
Ian said those on the committee play a vital role in guiding Lutheran Care’s reconciliation journey and thanked them for contributing their time, insight and helping to deliver meaningful and practical change.
“In 2026, our focus will be on moving from planning to action, with clearer priorities, stronger resourcing, and shared accountability across the organisation,” Ian said.
“We will continue strengthening our approach to cultural awareness and cultural safety, and engaging in meaningful conversations about racism, allyship and organisational responsibility.
“Reconciliation is something I’m passionate about and believe that it’s a shared responsibility and a core part of who we are as an organisation.”

National Reconciliation Week 2026
National Reconciliation Week takes place annually from 27 May to 3 June and is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, while also exploring how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026 is ‘All In’, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.
All In makes clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change.
