It was a fun night of peer connection, music-themed costumes and decorations, plus many laughs, at the Lutheran Care Foster Care inaugural Village Quiz Night last month.

With the aim to foster connection and friendship within Lutheran Care’s carer community, this event involved various games, prizes and a dress-up competition to a music theme, which was a hit amongst our guests.

Carers were encouraged to bring their own snacks and drinks for the table, as well as deciding their all-important table name.

A huge thank you to incredible Quiz Master Pete Monaghan, who brought so much fun and laughter to the event. His spontaneous improv guitar playing thrilled the crowd!

Lutheran Care Foster Care Family Engagement Worker Nat Costello organised the event and said the music-themed dress ups were “off the charts”.

“There was a vibe of fun and laughter, a feeling of connection yet competition, and for a first-time event, a consensus that it will not be the last,” Nat said.

As the event concluded and the sought-after prizes had been collected, guests were asked to write their feedback on a vinyl record used as a centrepiece table decoration on the night.

“Thanks for the great night. Lots of fun and well organised,” one carer wrote.

“Bring on LC Quiz 2026,” another carer wrote.

Lutheran Care supported guests’ older children to join in the fun, while others opted to make alternative arrangements for a child-free evening. This was followed by initial plans for the children to make their own table at future events and compete against their parents for the top prize.

Implementation of the Quiz Night event further strengthens Lutheran Care’s commitment to creating supportive networks for foster carers, who often face the complexities of fostering children while navigating all the normal life pressures of employment, family life and self-care.
