New season’s fashion tips from our head of Op Shops

Wondering what sort of colours and styles we’ll be seeing this Spring and Summer? Lutheran Care’s head of Op Shops, Babs Deane, shares some of her top tips!

Think bright this Spring and Summer. There will be lots of beautiful bright prints, many based around nature. If you go for green, pink, orange, red, and yellow, all mixed together like a English garden, you will be up to the minute in the direction of colours this season! You just can’t feel unhappy when you wear them, they put joy in your step.

There are lots of fleshy cut away bits in tops, dresses and pants. We’ll be seeing evening wear, particularly in jewel colours, with cutout midriff, back, front, or hips, or bare shoulders.

Team these gowns with very thin stilettoes, and teeny weeny bags, and you’ll look like a goddess.

In high summer who can ever go past white, to feel cool and cohesive in a loose wide leg pant and floating top? Spacious, smart, and almost ethereal. Nothing looks more classy than a natural linen floating dress or trouser and matching top.

It’s the accessories that are really making the statement this year: big bold earrings, lots of colour, or brushed silver or gold with shoes to match.

The colour palette is all about bright and bold in shoes, and the small little minimalist bags: no kitchen sink in these bags, girls! Just your phone, lippy and credit card: you’re travelling light!

Bare midriffs, cutouts and off the shoulders are the looks this season, particularly for formal wear.

Men’s fashion is looking all French Riviera: lots of linen pants, natural tees and even vests with leather sandles, so you look either really relaxed and playful or like you’re on a pilgrimage!

Faux tortoise shell is all the go for sunglasses, and stainless steel jewellery on wrists and fingers complete the look.

White tuxedo formal jackets and black pants is what’s about in the manly formal wear.
