New TV ad launches to help recruit new Lutheran Care Foster Carers | Watch ‘Fort’

The wait is over — Lutheran Care’s latest Foster Care recruitment campaign TV ad has landed! Set to evoke childhood nostalgia, the ad celebrates the simple magic and joy of building a fort or cubby in the loungeroom: a timeless rite of passage that reminds us how powerful moments of fun, connection and imagination can be.

In Fort, a foster child and their siblings spend time together in a magical fort they have built, sharing laughter and play while a parent joins in the fun. Fort is the second in a three-part series of advertisements focused around the theme of ‘Little moments, big impact’, which share how everyday moments of family life can make a big difference to children and young people in care.

Fort will be aired on free to air TV as well as streaming services and online. You can also watch it here (from 6am on Saturday, 1 August).

Lutheran Care has again worked with Adelaide creative agency, WO Advertising, on this series of ads, following their successful partnership on the previous Be The Village series of ads, which were named a finalist in a national marketing award.

The previous ad, Kick, focused on the joy and connection that can come from something as simple as playing sport outdoors with a sibling — highlighting how these experiences benefit both children in care and their foster families. The ad specifically targeted respite foster carers, who provide a safe and supportive home for children or young people for a weekend each month (approximately), helping to extend the village of people who care for children in care. Watch Kick, below.

The final advertisement in the Little Moments, Big Impact campaign is  Dog, which follows a foster child who is woken by the family pet and follows it down the hallway to join the family for breakfast. The advertisement centres on a simple family ritual, showing how everyday routines can help children feel included, connected, comfortable and more confident.

While we think they’re amazing, foster carers are often very quick to point out that they’re just normal people – normal families, that do normal, family things. We hope this series of ads help more people realise that the normal family things their families do, might be a cornerstone in making a child or young person in care feel safe, valued, and part of something.

Lutheran Care is always seeking new families to open their homes to children and young people in care, whether as foster carers or respite carers. The organisation is also looking for specialist foster carers with skills and experience in areas such as disability, allied health, education and related fields to support children and young people with more complex needs.

Prospective carers can learn more by attending one of Lutheran Care’s regular foster care information sessions. Keep an eye out for the first campaign advertisement, Kick, and consider taking the first step towards becoming a foster or respite carer today.
