Resident fashionista and General Manager of Lutheran Care and Elcies Op Shops, Babs Deane, is predicting what sort of fashions we’ll see at the Lutheran Care 2023 Gala Dinner, coming up on Friday 10 November at Adelaide Oval.
Babs is looking forward to seeing guests have some fun with their fashion, and is expecting some bold and striking looks on both the men and the women.
“You can be a real individual, because nothing evening is out. Hallelujah!” Babs says.
“I suspect we will see every style worn on the 10th November, from the little sexy black dress with new outrageous bling, to the flowing gown, maybe with off the shoulder detail.
“If the floral print silk kimono is your choice, wear all one colour underneath, use a cami with a plunging neckline and a pair of skinny pants.
“I personally love this look as stiletto heels make your legs look longer but flats means you can dance all night, and that’s a genuine smile on your face, not a pretend one covering up the pain you’re feeling.
“Wear a statement piece of jewellery in the décolletage or Japanese hair jewel sticks in your swept up bun.
“Tops, long or short, adorned with beads or sequins, are a picture of simplicity and elegance particularly with wide-leg floaty chiffon pants. Or if you want to look sophisticated wear those chiffon pants with a lace top, and finish off the look with pearls.
“Accessories are a keynote to the dress or outfit you’ve worn many times. It’s all about recycling fashion looks and putting your own spin on how it’s worn.
“Nothing is taboo, nothing is out of date. If you’re a male, go for a dinner suit, a lounge suit, or a great statement jacket with toning pants. Tie, bow tie, no tie, it’s up to you. You guys get it so easy. But that’s ok.
“Most importantly it’s about having a fabulous time knowing your ticket price and the money you spend on the night, will help those individuals and families doing it tough and it’s an excuse to bring your formal gear out of the back of the wardrobe and into the light!”

The 2023 Lutheran Care Gala Dinner will be held at Adelaide Oval on Friday, 10 November. Featuring live music by Ash Gale of The Sundance Kids and his new band Motel Music, a stunning three-course menu paired with Maxwell Wines, amazing live and silent auction items, and the opportunity to raise funds for South Australians in need through the Lutheran Care Emergency Relief Fund, it is set to be one of the most exciting and worthwhile nights on the Adelaide social (justice) calendar.
